About the Pastor:

      Rev. Vicki Garber (Pastor Vicki) was born and raised in rural South Dakota.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Augustana College in 1973 with a degree in Biology and Sociology, from Illinois College of Optometry Magna Cum Laude in 1977 with a Doctor of Optometry degree and from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1994 with a Master of Divinity.  Prior to her ordination, Pastor Vicki worked as a private practice optometrist.

      Pastor Vicki was ordained on June 9, 1994 after accepting a call to the joint parish of Bethany and St. Mark Lutheran Churches in Louisville, Kentucky.  In November of 2000, she accepted the call to become the Senior Pastor of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Crestview Hills, Kentucky, where she currently serves.

      Pastor Vicki is married to Phillip Garber.  Phil is also an ordained ELCA clergy. They have four children; Amelia, Erikk, Joshua, and Nicole.  Loving and enjoying her family is a top priority for Pastor Vicki.

      Pastor Vicki has many and varied ministry interests as well; most especially teaching, preaching, spiritual development, and evangelism.  She frequently leads spirituality, motivational, leadership, and evangelism workshops and retreats around the country.  She currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Trinity Lutheran Seminary and as the Chair of the Statewide Citizen’s Review Panel.

      In addition, Pastor Vicki has served as a Partner in Evangelism for the ELCA, featured panelist for the Academy for Evangelists in the area of "Effective Preaching ", as a full voting member of a Department of Evangelism for an Episcopal Diocese (the Diocese of Kentucky), and the host and developer of the radio talk show "GodTalk for Real Life" (a registered name owned by Pastor Vicki.)

      Pastor Vicki likes reading, music, camping, and needlepoint.  But her greatest joy is sharing the Gospel, especially through story.
